On my 15th birthday my mother gave me a gold
ring set with a ruby and a small diamond. Years later I took the ring with the rest of my
belongings to the squatted house where I lived in Georgiana Street, Camden, London NW3.
During a trip to Madrid I left it all there only to find on my return that everything was
gone. Unlike the other goods, the ring was unreplaceable and a painful loss. |
