'Turn the Soil'
opened at The La Trobe Regional Gallery on Friday 20th March. It was opened by the
distinguished Kees Hos, who established the renowned Gippsland Art School
along Bauhaus lines. |
The
school became one of the most radical art schools in Australia, thanks to his
free-thinking teaching methods. For the opening he read from a speech composed especially
for the opening for the Dutch Consul General, Jan van Galen Last. There is an online version of his opening speech. (The figure in the background
is local shire councillor and glass pioneer, Tony Hanning.) |
